Evolution is a fundamental concept in biology. Evolution focuses on a few mechanisms through which it is believed all modern organisms descended from a common ancestor. One of these is coevolution that suggests the evolution of an organism can affect the evolution of another organism with some type of relationship to it. Another mechanism is natural selection where certain traits in a population are advantageous and eventually the more advantageous trait becomes the dominant one. Other mechanisms include genetic drift, mutations and descent.
