The radio is a modern system of communication which uses electromagnetic waves of radio frequencies transmitted through space. Radio waves, as they are commonly referred to, can be of different wave lengths. Depending on the application in different situations, various wave lengths are in use. Radio communication is used primarily in radio broadcasting and television. Important applications of this technology are wireless telecommunication, radar, navigation and two-way earth-to-space communication. Radio frequency identification (RFID), an emerging field, employs both radio technology and embedded systems.
