Sexually transmitted diseases are those diseases which are passed from one person to another through sexual contact. Any sexual behaviour which involves the exchange of bodily fluid, whether it is oral, genital or anal sex, means there is the possibility of contracting a disease. Sexually transmitted diseases can be caused by bacteria, viruses, parasites or fungus. There is also a risk from these diseases through blood transfusions and needle sharing.
