Millica Jovovich was born on December 17, 1975. Milla, as she later came to be known, is a native of Kiev, Ukraine. She is the only child of Dr. Bogich Jovovich and actress Galina Loginova Jovovich.

Family

Jovovich’s family is believed to be rich in military history. Her great-grandfather was an officer of the guard of King Nicholas I of Montenegro. Her grandfather was a commander in the Pristina military.

When she was five, Jovovich and her family moved to California.

Career

Jovovich began her career in modeling at age 11. At age 12, she was dubbed as one of Revlon’s “Most Unforgettable Women in the World.” In 1988, she took the lead in a movie called Two Moon Junction, but it wasn’t until 1991 when she starred in Return to the Blue Lagoon at the age of 15, that she started to gain some popularity.

Probably one of her most notable and recognizable roles was in the 2002 science fiction/horror film Resident Evil. She has reprised her leading role in one Resident Evil sequel and has signed contracts for two more Resident Evil films, where she will again, reprise her leading role. These films are due to be released within the next 2 years. The last one is slated for release in 2007.

Jovovich has had roles in several other films such as: Kuffs (with Christian Slater), The Fifth Element starring opposite Bruce Willis and a minor role in the Ben Stiller comedy, Zoolander. She also sported the lead role in the 1999 film, The Messenger: The Story of Joan of Arc.

She has several movies expected to be released in 2006 and 2007. Her 2006 releases include Ultraviolet, .45 (currently in post-production) and Fade Out co-starring Billy Bob Thorton.

In September of 2005, Jovovich joined forces with former model Carmen Hawk to open a New York-based fashion boutique aptly called Jovovich-Hawk. Just recently, February 2006, they introduced a new fashion collection at Fashion Week New York.

Relationships

Jovovich eloped with Shawn Andrews in 1991 when she was 16 years old. They had the marriage annulled in 1992. In 1997, she married director, Luc Besson, after meeting him on the set of the movie The Fifth Element. They later divorced in 1999. Jovovich began dating director, Paul W.A. Anderson in 2001. They are currently engaged.
