Dissociative disorders are listed under abnormal psychology and refer to conditions in which there are dysfunctions in memory, awareness, identity or perception or a combination of them. Each of the four disssociative disorders describes problems in the functioning of these areas which become problematic when they impede on the perception of reality. Some disorders may be temporary while others may need the intervention of a therapist.
