Electronics is a science which deals with the design and application of systems involving electrical and/or semiconductor devices, with its working based on electron flow. Devices deployed in this field consist mainly of transistors, which are semiconductor based. Vacuum tubes and valves were used formerly and would occupy excessive space.

The science involving pure research of these devices is considered as an offshoot of applied physics. This science is used to provide innumerable solutions in the electrical, power and electronic industries.
