An Unfinished Life

Two men, who have known each other for decades, are growing old as they look after one another. They’re a mutual support system that’s endured over the years. One of the men is physically challenged the other is bitter. One of the men has a daughter-in-law, with a daughter of her own. They visit him one day.

Plot

A man named Einer Gilkyson(Robert Redford)has been withdrawn since the death of his son many years before. He was prosperous but now he’s just getting by.

His good friend, Mitch Bradley(Morgan Freeman)requires constant medical attention because he’s recovering from the wounds of a bear attack.

The story is about two lives--one who is physically damaged, and the other who is physically strong, but mentally and emotionally disabled. Mitch’s body is damaged, but his spirit remains high, regardless.

The only person Einer can tolerate is Mitch.

Resolution

They get a visit from Jean(Jennifer Lopez)who bring her eleven- year-old daughter, Griff(Becca Gardner). Einer is forced to face the fact that he is a father-in-law, whose son is gone, and nothing can bring him back.

He blames Jean for his son’s death. But once he faces his pain directly, he can look with hope and comfort to his granddaughter. He has to overcome his hatred for Jean for the good of a child who he doesn’t want to lose.
