An emotion is a neural impulse which makes an organism act. It creates a reflex usually developed by evolution. While people tend to confuse the terms feeling and emotion, it is not correct due to the fact that an emotion is a psycho-physiological state inducing an organism to have reactions. A feeling is an emotion that is analyzed by the brain and only after, it creates a psycho-physiological change.
