Indian media has made notable progress and has wider reach and depth today, compared to its pre-independence status. In the pre-independence era, newspapers concentrated mainly on the independence struggle and social issues regionally. Television, radio, newspapers-both national and regional documentaries have been effectively used in highlighting issues and making information available, since independence. In the last few decades, with the wide number of private channels opening up, round the clock updates information is readily available. Documentaries in India are still in infancy.
