From ArticleWorld

Pathology is the study of diseases, how they are caused and what effects there are on the body. Many pathologists study the etiology of diseases and the causes of death. Pathologists do this by doing autopsies, interpreting laboratory or X-ray information and using histology, or the study of tissue cells under the microscope, to understand how the body functions in illness. Subspecialties in pathology include anatomic pathology, which also includes the study of forensic pathology, and clinical pathology, which involves interpreting tissue, urine and blood studies in the process of understanding disease.
