Numerous religions exist today and categorizing people by religion came as a needed method of reaching individuals. Organizations aiming to convert people from other religions have been known to use them. Examples of common categories include Christian people, Muslims, Jains, Taoists etc. Some religions are not considered official and they may not be included in a list of people by religion. Mistakes in labeling people are also common.
