Racism creates discrimination between people and is due to the think that there exist different human races and that one is superior to the other. Racists tend to believe that races can be placed in a hierarchical scale. The term racism is also used to describe a system of oppression such as institutional racism. Examples of discrimination based on race can be given all throughout history and is still visible today in some areas.
