Space exploration is the exploration of outer space physically. The peak period of space exploration started with the launch of the first object to orbit the Earth. The first man was launched into space in 1961, by the USSR. In this period of time, space travel was considered to be a race by the two countries actively exploring this technology, the USSR and the USA. Another notable event was the first moon walk in 1969 by an American astronaut. Space exploration has now changed from a race to an alliance between countries with active cooperation.
