A strange storm. And with the lightning they come. They seek to destroy life on earth. They have been forecasts for many about strange storms that would impact the Northern New Jersey area. A man is caring for his children while is ex-wife has a the weekend to herself. He and the kids are in danger!

Plot

When Ray(Tom Cruise)takes charge of his kids for the weekend, he’s not on very good terms with them. He’s not a nice guy. As the lightning strikes in his New Jersey neighborhood, something comes out of the sky that appears to be a metallic plant with multiple legs. Everything is burning. Heat rays are hitting buildings, cars, stores, homes are destroyed and people are screaming and scrambling everywhere. Ray gets the kids, his gun and some food and leaves for upstate New York.

Resolution

They escape by car to upstate New York, but the aliens are attacking everywhere. Aircraft fire, bombs, and weapons are totally useless against these invaders. Ray tries to outwit the aliens, but nothing works to stem the tide of conquest.
