Audioslave is fueled by Cornell’s powerful voice and Morello’s unique and unorthodox style of guitar playing. His guitar solos are similar to a hip-hop style. They also have strong backing in synthesizer sound effects, and in various means to alter the sound and pitch of the guitar.

Composition
Audioslave is an alternative rock band that is composed of: Chris Cornell, vocals (formerly of Soundgarden and Rage Against the Machine); Tom Morello, guitar; Tim Commerford, bass; Brad Wilk, drums.
Pride
Audioslave takes great pride in the fact that they can make a variety of sounds using only vocals, guitar, bass guitar, and drums. This is a feat that is difficult to do and takes much experience and expertise.
To Rage or not Rage
While Rage Against the Machine had a political agenda of sorts, Audioslave has not interest in anything of that manner. Cornell said he did not want to become the new singer for a Rage Against the Machine wannabe and sought the freedom to write lyrics which were not politically driven.
However, the band is a member of Axis of Justice, which is a non-profit organization formed by Morello and Serj Tankain of System of a Down. The purpose: To unite musicians, fans, and political organizations to fight for social justice together.
Name
Audioslave worked out a deal with an unsigned band from Liverpool that uses the same name. The agreement was that the U.S. band would pay $30,000 in a deal that allows both bands to use the name. This has recently changed with the U.K. band now using the name: The Most Terrifying Thing.
Live
Audioslave toured extensively in both 2002 and 2003, then again in 2005. Their shows have quickly gained popularity, and are often sold out at venues around the world.
Audioslave has also been known to play unreleased or upcoming tracks at their shows, as well as a variety of cover songs. Some cover songs that have been performed are: "White Riot" by The Clash, "Seven Nation Army" by The White Stripes, "Working Man" by Rush, and numerous versions of songs from their past bands (as in Soundgarden and Rage Against The Machine).
