Media is an umbrella term for all forms of information, news and entertainment that reach the public via newspapers, magazines, television, radio, or the Internet. The mass media is the media realized on a massive scale. It is distinguished from local media in that it reaches a national or worldwide audience. Some consider the mass media to be instrumental in forming a global society, which, while adopting the popular culture propagated by the media, is socially disconnected from the local society.
