The phrase social sciences is used to refer to all the disciplines which focus on the human, usually group-related, aspects of society and the world. The arts and letters, and humanities are rarely considered social sciences because they are not predicated on considerations of objectivity or scientific or otherwise systematized methods. The social sciences include but are not limited to: sociology, anthropology, linguistics, economics, history, psychology, and urban planning.
