The term can also be used in reference to a marriage the stems from a short courtship, lasts a short period of time and ends quickly. A marriage like this is the opposite of the so-called “fairy tale marriage,” which, ironically, is what most movies in Hollywood feature. The term can also be used to describe celebrities not associated with Hollywood who marry.
Sympathy
Hollywood marriages, although glamorous to the public and desirable to the paparazzi, face many challenges which may be why so many end poorly (and quickly). Hollywood couples are forced to face media coverage and analysis and stalking by paparazzi. They are also faced with the challenge of aligning schedules in the face of their fast-moving careers. Sympathizers say that the separation and divorce rates only seem higher since there is so much publicity generated by a couple in Hollywood.
Negative views
Some attribute the high divorce rates in a Hollywood marriage to the fact that they believe celebrities use weddings purely as publicity stunts. They also argue that the divorce rate is highly related to infidelity and promiscuity.
