Category:Crystallography

From ArticleWorld

An older definition of crystallography is that it is the scientific study of crystals. Presently this has been modified to the determination of the arrangement of the atoms within solids. The determination of the geometry of crystals was previously based on the measurement of angles and determination of symmetry but with modern developments such as the X-ray, neutron and electron diffraction this is no longer utilized as much. Crystallography has many applications in biology with the determination of the molecular structure of many biomolecules.
