In terms of professions and international relations, diplomacy refers to the negotiation between officially appointed, often specially trained bureaucrats and administrators, and possibly subject matter experts, between two or more countries in order to clarify, resolve and further issues related to trade, war and peace, immigration, culture, etc. These individuals, called diplomats, generally set the groundwork for bilateral and multilateral treaties. The word is also used to indicate tactful and skilful discussion or veiled debate in any situation.
