A house is a dwelling, generally man-made, containing a space enclosed by walls and roof, always with a door and generally windows. Houses protect human beings from the elements – heat and cold, snow and rain – animal life and encroaching plant life. Generally houses provide privacy, and when occupied over some period of time, become 'home'.
