Meat is defined as an animal tissue used as food. It can refer to muscle tissue, non-muscular organs or fat. In most cases meat is referred to as being the flesh of livestock. Some of them are not included in the list such as seafood, insects and poultry. In most developed countries, a special industry named the meat packing industry handles the distribution process, slaughtering process and meat processing.
