Perl (Practical Extraction and Report Language) is an interpreted procedural programming language. It was released in 1987 and was created by Larry Wall. It borrows elements from other similar programming techniques includinhg C, shell scripting, Lisp, sed and awk. Originally designed for text manipulation, Perl is used for a variety of computer related tasks such as network programming, web development, system administration and GUI development.
