Physical exercise is an activity performed at a level that would increase one’s fitness and health levels. There are three types of physical exercise: 1.Flexibiltiy exercises 2.Anaerobic exercises 3.Aerobic exercises Physical exercise helps maintain ideal body weight, improves the immune system, builds strong bones and muscles and generally enhances overall health. Allowing for muscle recovery and rest is important when exercising. Not giving the body time to recovery can result in injury.

Hindrances

Many things can hinder one’s performance or ability to exercise. Eating disorders, such as bulimia and anorexia, decrease the amount of nutrients stored in the body thereby decreasing the effects of exercise. In addition, one must be motivated to exercise at a sustained level to see any physical results. Also, an individual that is uneducated or uninformed as to the way to properly perform exercise can sustain injury. Finally, over-exercising can be harmful. Without giving the body proper time to rest, one can sustain serious injuries. Health officials agree that a routine of every-other-day workouts are optimum for overall health. Over-exercising can also decrease performance significantly.

Benefits

Regular exercise has been scientifically proven to improve overall health. Significant illnesses such as obesity, diabetes, insomnia, depression and high blood pressure can be positively affected by regular exercise. In addition, exercise releases endorphins, which can aid in what is known as exercise euphoria. This is a state of elation that many individuals experience while exercising. Finally, exercising has been proven to increase one’s brain function by increasing the chemicals in the brain that promote cognition.
