Natal chart

From ArticleWorld

The Natal Chart is made by Western astrologers for the purpose of divining the nature and fortune of a person. It is charted for a specific time, usually for birth time. The natal chart is also known as the Birth chart, star chart, astro chart, astrological chart, nativity, cosmogram, soul print, radical chart, Vistaspere and radix.

The natal chart is a complex diagrammatic representation of the positions of the celestial bodies namely, the sun, moon, planets and other significant asteroids or fixed stars. Important considerations while charting these it the birth time and birth place. In USA, it is now mandatory to have the birth time recorded on the birth certificate. However, for an accurate chart, this is not enough as it is fairly common practice to round off the time to a quarter of an hour or half hour. The exact time when the baby came out of the womb and took its first breath is essential for a precise chart.

After placement of the positions of celestial bodies, the primary angles need to be calculated with precision. These are also known as ‘aspects’. Aspects are singular angle relationships between the ascendant (rising sun), midheaven (MC), nodes of the moon and these with the midpoints of others. The correct latitude and longitude is also vital in drafting a precise natal chart; only the name of the city or town is not enough.

Critics label it a pseudoscience because of the unavailability of proofs and the fact that it cannot be verified under experimental conditions. Nevertheless, this form of astrology is extremely popular across all cultures. Professional astrologers, do not believe in the predictions printed in newspapers and magazines following the 12 Sun – Sign policy.

No two people can have the same natal chart nor characteristics nor destinties. Even twins have distinct differences in their natal charts because they are born at different times even though the difference is only of minutes. Astrology assumes that the earth is stationary while everything else is moving. Hence, all positions and angles keep changing every second. This is the reason behind every natal chart’s exclusivity.
