From ArticleWorld

The Pig (sometimes also depicted as a boar) is one of the twelve animals of Chinese astrology. It is believed that a person born in the year of a particular animal acquires the characteristics attributed to it. People born under the year of the pig give great importance to honesty. They are very social and hence make good friends very easily. They are very scrupulous in their dealings and expect the same from others. Often, they are disappointed as a result of this. The pig has a trusting nature and is usually quite naïve. They are not worldly-wise which leads to disillusionment with life when they are betrayed.

Pigs attach great importance to honor and courage. Male pigs are known to be chivalrous. They detest fights and arguments and will do all they can to prevent or stop them. They will even do trivial tasks for their friends. They are good entertainers also. Their best companions are other pigs. Snakes and pigs do not get along at all.

The pig occupies the twelfth position in the Chinese zodiac calendar. Its ruling hours are 9 pm to 11 pm. Its lucky gemstone is Topaz. The ruling element of pig is water and it corresponds to Scorpio, the western zodiac.
