Ada is high-level, standardized programming language, designed under the lead of Jean David Ichbiah. It is the language of choice designed for the US Department of Defense, but also runs on many embedded systems. There is even a project trying to implement an operating system in Ada, although, at the time of writing, the project (AdaOS) is stopped.

Ada has a wide set of features that make it a quite popular programming language, although many programmers criticized it for being too verbose or too bloated for non-academic programming.
