Club sandwich

From ArticleWorld

The club sandwich is believed to be over a hundred years old since its creation. It is thought to have originated in the Saratoga Club House in Saratoga Springs, New York. Whether this is true or not, the club sandwich is a sandwich that has become available throughout the United States and internationally, too.

Contents

The club sandwich is comprised of three slices of toasted bread, turkey, bacon, lettuce, mayonnaise, and sliced tomatoes. The meat can also be chicken breast or roast beef. The bacon can be replaced with ham. Sometimes cheese and mustard are added as well.

Some places will also include a special sauce that they only put in their club sandwiches. This is to make them more unique and hopefully attract more people to the establishment.

Regional

In the southwestern United States, it is not surprising to find that the club sandwich has been added with chili or peppers to give it a bit of an attitude that is indigenous with the area.

In the western states it is also common to have avocadoes sliced and placed into the club, plus sometimes they will also add alfalfa sprouts to it as well.

Each area will have a unique means of making their club sandwiches and these changes make variations of the club more and more common.

International

In Quebec, the club sandwiches have become a form of fast food. There are snack bars that create the sandwich and make it possible to have it custom made to your specs. These are become fairly common over the years.

In Denmark a club sandwich is made with a toasted bun or bread, and filled with chicken, bacon, lettuce, sliced tomatoes, and a curry dressing.

In the United Kingdom, club sandwiches have become a norm in delis and fast food chains as well. Some offer a variety of different ways they are prepared.
