The bob cut is a haircut mostly for women which have the hair cut short but the weighted area of the hair falls between the ears and the chin. The bob cut was invented in 1909 in Paris and it was inspired by Joan of Arc. After World War One, it was worn by 1920s flappers and the bob cut on with the 1920s society. This haircut was the sign of a happy and liberated woman.

The bob cut and film stars

The bob cut was associated with movie stars like Colleen Moore and Louise Brooks. In Germany, Louise Brooks’ hair cut was labeled “the black helmet” because it looked like a helmet. Also, in America, a movie studio called her haircut “the Louise Brooks bob in 1927.

Bob cut revisited

The hairdresser named Vidal Sassoon made the bob cut popular again in the 1960s by recreating the design of the bob cut from the 1920s by making it more stylish by making it a simpler cut. And, different styles of the bob cut have evolved since the 1960s and is popular today. The hairstyle is a fashion accessory for many people.
