Canada is located in the Northern segment of North America. With an area of over 9.9 million square kilometers, it is the second largest country in the world. Canada was originally inhabited by aboriginal people and later on occupied by Great Britain through a series of colonies. The country amended its own constitution in 1982 and has been independent ever since as a parliamentary democracy and constitutional monarchy.
