No Wave was an offshoot of punk music that was very short lived and focused in New York City. It was a radical turn for music and influenced many of the bands that would later join new wave and Industrial genres. It was also the means for some of the subgenres that would become dominant in the years to come. It was only around from the late 1970’s through to the very early 1980’s.
