Tuberculosis is an infectious disease caused by bacteria that affects not only the lungs but also the central nervous system as in meningitis, the lymphatic, circulatory and genitourinary systems and the bones and joints. It affects about one third of the world’s population, making it the most common infectious disease today. It is estimated to cause two million deaths every year.
