Urology is the study of the male and female urinary tracts, including the study of their diseases and treatments. Urologists generally focus on diseases beginning at the pelvis of the kidney and ending with the distal end of the urethra. Urologists evaluate conditions of the urinary tract using X-ray, ultrasound, cystometrogram and cystoscopy, which is the evaluation of the bladder, urethra and distal ureters using a scope and a small camera. Urologists also treat surgical conditions such as bladder cancer, prostate disorders and sometimes disorders of erection.
