Bible

The biggest inspiration that the band has is Neuromancer by writer William Gibson. This has been referred to as their bible and is the focus of their music and perception of their style.

This style is also the basis for their lyrics and the style of the melodies they use as well.

Perception

Cenobita views all human beings as entities that are dedicated to a contemplative life. They see that the cyberpunk world is not of the future, but the here and now. In their eyes the corruption, suffering, and social fragmentation are already here. Hence, the demise of the social group is here, making their perception of the future more real.

Music style

Their music is part of the following genres: electronica, EBM, industrial, and techno. Their music is a heavy fast sound, with pounding beats, complex harmony and noisy sampling. Vocals are mainly distorted and sound artificial at best.

Cenobita set the standard in Mexico for most electronic music and have created the stepping stones that most other band have used to gain exposure both in the United States and in Europe. They are currently on three respective labels, one for Mexico, one for the United States, and one for the German area.

Timeframe

They began in 1994, it took them roughly four years to gain some exposure in the United States and almost eight for the European scene to take real notice. They have been the key band that has opened the industrial and electronic genre doors to the world for Mexico.
