What is in a name?

Das Ich is a representation of the battle one faces within. It is the Freudian "Es" or It against the moral "Ich" or Ego. It is the base battle that lurks in us all when we face a personal dilemma of what is desired and what is right.

Breaking the German mold

Das Ich caused more than just a stir, they shook everything up with their superb mixture of symphonic, electronic, early industrial elements that exploded like a Molotov Cocktail that shattered the rigid German music culture.

Passing an era

They not only caused a stir with their style but firmly placed themselves in a particular position in the scene as the forerunners in electronic and experimental music. They proved that it was there time and that it truly was the end of the Kraftwerk/ Neubauten era for German music.

Stigma and tours

Before and after the release of Stigma they toured all over Europe, which further strengthened their position and gave them a reputation for their appearance as evil and disturbing spectacles on stage. The also made a tour through the United State and at festivals such as WOMAD in Hamburg.

Staub

Staub is their most compressed work and their least accessible. It was released at Christmas time and was on the waiting list of the German Media Control Charts for 11 weeks. Staub took two years to create and was a milestone for electronic music. On the Staub tour, Das Ich played a tour of more than 60 shows all over the world, Staub also released in the United States on Tess Records, while "Die Propheten" was re-released on Black Orchid Records.

To Date

Das Ich has done more than 7 tours to the United States and Europe twice that since Stab cam out. Das Ich has gone through a number of drummers and has had a number of albums released and one soundtrack, yet they never have slowed down, nor succumbed to being an industrial band in a can as many bands have become. They are one of the few bands that has been evolving and staying within their respective genre. They are one of the most premiere bands and one of the most respected in the Industrial circles.

Since 2003, The band has released three albums and has toured through Russia and the United States with huge effort and even bigger success. They have also shown more of their focus on understanding the conflict with in and in understanding the human being.
