How to have better relationships

From ArticleWorld

To have better relationships and improve bonds does not require anything more than a change of attitude and a few warm smiles. There is no time like the present to improve the quality and value of a relationship because a relationship once soured may take years to get back to its original level and then too may never reach its original height. There are few simple precautions that you can take to prevent that happening to your relationship with a friend, sibling, spouse or parent.

A few suggestions

  1. Communication is the essence of a good relationship; rather it is the foundation on which most successful relationships are based. Take care to talk to the other person and listen attentively when they talk to you.
  2. Go out of your way to do something nice for them and appreciate it when they do something nice for you in return. To accept a gift graciously is also a learned art.
  3. Love yourself and be happy with what you have achieved. Unless and until you are at peace with yourself you can seldom bring happiness to a relationship.
  4. Be ready to make compromises for the sake of the other person and walk that extra mile for them and be willing to do something for them that you may not necessarily like to do.
  5. Keep you word and be on time, it makes a world of difference to the other person to know that they can depend on you every time, all the time.

Do’s

  • Always tell the truth, even if it hurts. A relationship that is based on lies has very little reason to succeed.
  • Lend a helping hand and a sympathetic ear, it means a lot to a person who is in need of either or both.

Don’ts

  • Don’t let small arguments spoil the big something that you share, surely, your relationship is above petty bickering.
