Makeover

From ArticleWorld

A makeover involves changing the appearance of someone or something.

Types of makeovers

A makeover can be a simple as a new haircut or new makeup, or as extreme as extensive cosmetic surgery.

Technology has greatly improved the makeover decision-making process. Many salons and surgeons offer computer programs in which those who are considering changing their appearance can submit photos and see what they would look like with a different hair color or a different face – and everything in between. These virtual makeovers have gone mainstream and many are available for home computers as well.

People don’t just change themselves: They can makeover their homes, their cars, their jobs, their wardrobe. The options are endless!

Getting a makeover

If one wants to change his or her appearance for any reason, he or she should first consult a variety of resources to determine what he or she truly wants. One outstanding way to do so is to enlist the help of an image consultant, who will help in selecting hairstyles, makeup and wardrobe. And may, in some cases, go so far as to offering advice in regards to one’s personalities and actions.

Naturally if one wishes to use cosmetic surgery to achieve a makeover, it is suggested that a number of cosmetic surgeons be consulted and recommendations be sought before undergoing any procedure.

Makeovers in pop culture

Makeovers have been popularized by a variety of television shows, including “Queer Eye for the Straight Guy,” “What Not to Wear,” “Extreme Makeover,” “Ambush Makeover,” “The Swan,” and, in the case of homes and cars, “Trading Spaces” and “Pimp My Ride,” respectively.
