Natal astrology

From ArticleWorld

Natal Astrology deals with preparation of a natal chart. This chart contains the exact position of the sun and other celestial bodies at the time of an individual’s birth. Accurate birth time and place of birth are vital to this unique astrological technique. A natal chart is also called a birth chart or a star chart.

The natal chart is a complex diagrammatic representation of star positions based on which astrologers predict the fate of a human being. The central theme of this study is that positions of planetary bodies determine personality traits, basic nature, health and the overall destiny of a person. The natal chart depicts one’s strengths and weaknesses, dreams and fears. It often throws light on areas which earlier went unacknowledged.

Critics label it a pseudoscience because of the unavailability of proofs and the fact that it cannot be verified under experimental conditions. Nevertheless, this form of divination is extremely popular across all cultures.

Factors

Various factors need to be given due consideration in natal astrology.

  1. The zodiac sign nature of the sun, moon, planets and other significant asteroids and fixed stars; the sign placements of north modes, south modes and Arabic parts.
  2. The ‘house’ placement for all of the above.
  3. The sign placements of the ‘cusps’ of all twelve houses, most important being the ascendant (first house cusp) and the Midheaven or Medium Coeli (tenth house cusp)
  4. the ‘aspects’ (singular angle relationships) between the ascendant, midheaven, nodes of the moon and these with the midpoints of others.
  5. The delibity or dignity of each body in the chart
  6. Dispositorship or connections between planets and between houses.

Chart patterns

The pattern of distribution of the celestial bodies is important for final analysis. There are various types of charts, namely :
