Competitor

Its main rival is also an industry major Coca-Cola. PepsiCo. matched the competition from Coca-Cola, by a string of acquisitions of popular fast-food chain outlets. Until 1997 it owned KFC, Pizza Hut and Taco Bell chain of fast food restaurants and snack outlets. It heightened the sales of its beverages competing with its arch rival Coca-Cola. However, it concentrated on its beverages-its core strength after 1997, selling off most of the restaurant acquired, back to the original owners, or spinning the fast-food chains off to “Tricon Global Restaurants” ,now known as “Yum!Brands, Inc.”. PepsiCo. also got other soft drink manufacturing companies under its fold to compete with Coca-Cola, product wise. However its number two spot behind Coca-cola is a challenge even as of date. In spite of the fact that it employs more than thrice the work force that Coca-Cola does, it still garners lesser profits.
