Thomas Burberry is a fashion and fashion accessories company that is based in the United Kingdom. Its products have a check pattern. The company has many stores and a catalog to shop and browse through. The Price of Wales has given the company Kudos.

History

Burberry clothing began in 1826when Thomas Burberry at 21 years old opened his first store in Basingstoke Hampshire. In 1870, the company became established and had mostly outdoor clothing. In 1881, a store was opened in Haymarket London and is still the company’s headquarters. Also, Thomas Burberry invented gabardine fabric for which there is a patent. The company was commissioned to create service uniforms for the British officers by the War Office. At this time, the trench coat was created and was popular with both military personnel and civilians alike. A trench coat was worn by Peter Sellers in the Pink Panther movies. And, a trench coat was also worn by Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany’s.

The original design

The red, white, black, and camel check called Nova has become the company’s trademark. These colors were first used in the lining of the company’s trench coats and the check went outside the Burberry clothing in the 1960s. The trademark check was placed on many fashion accessories like luggage. Burberry is popular with people both in the United Kingdom and the United States. Hip hop musicians have given the check great appeal.
