Other family and relationships consists of our immediate family (except spouse) and may also include our acquaintances, neighbors, class mates and colleagues at work. We interact with them and form social relationships because all of us live in a society that functions within certain rules and regulations. The society thrives on conventions and norms that are usually not spelt out in black and white. We grow up absorbing these conventions from our parents and other elders and behaving in patterns set by people before us and pass on these conventions to our children.
