Brioche is a part of French cuisine. People go to France to sample French food especially. Most likely people will sample Brioche when they visit France. Brioche is a light and rich type of bread or cake created with yeast dough made with eggs, milk, and butter. The crust is glazed with a mixture of butter and sugar before the brioche is baked. Brioche is baked until its crust turns golden brown. The color of the bread is a light yellow and the texture of brioche is delicate.

Brioche came onto the food scene in 1404. The recipe for brioche came from a Norman recipe. It is served as a pastry or as the beginning of a dessert. Many fillings, ingredients, and topping can be added to brioche. Brioche has been used with foie gras and is used with a variety of meat dishes.

Jean-Jacques Rousseau in his book Confessions, he used the word brioche when he advised a princess to have the staving peasants eat cake in French. Braided brioche is like challah.
