Ancient History is defined as being the study of significant political and cultural events of world history and occured between the beginning of humanity till the Middle Ages. Another similar term is "classical antiquity" used almost as a synonym as this particular time in history had its apogee in Ancient Greece, around 776 BC. The ending date of the Ancient History period is considered to be the fall of the Western Roman Empire.
