The term incense describes a special type of aromatic plant preparation that when burnt releases fragrant smoke in the surrounding area. It can come in various forms and presentations and can be used with different purposes from creating an atmosphere and adding pleasant fragrances in a room to more complex usages such as aromatherapy or hypnosis. Incense can be classified in either direct or indirect burning and, while there are some health issues when using it too often, incense still remains popular in most developed countries of the world.
