A wedding is traditionally a ceremony that is either civil or religious. At this ceremony, the beginning of a marriage is celebrated. Weddings vary throughout the world, but at most societies a number of wedding traditions have emerged, many of which focus on the symbolism of the bride entering into a new family with her husband. In some cultures, same-sex weddings are being celebrated. There are a variety of trends, traditions and customs related to the wedding and wedding party, including the honeymoon, the toast, the music (and first dance) and the bridal party.
