Homeopath

From ArticleWorld

The first homeopath was Dr Samuel Hahnemann, a German physician practicing in the late 1700’s who became disillusioned with the conventional medicine of the time which included methods such as bleeding with leeches, administering of laxatives and enemas and making the patient vomit. Upon observing that many of his patients would have been better off if he had left them alone, he decided to try and find a better way to practice his profession.

He found that medicines worked because they produced the symptoms of the disease they were targeted for in healthy people. By administering small quantities of such medicines to those suffering from an illness, he could cure the ailment without the painful side effects produced by many of the procedures of the medicine of the time.

Considered as famous a homeopath as Dr Hahnemann is the American James Tyler Kent who was born in 1849. Another who is considered influential is Rajan Sankaran, a modern day homeopath practicing in Mumbai.
