German cuisine is different from region to region. Some German dishes came from either Switzerland or Austria. A typical German breakfast starts with toast with honey and eggs. For lunch, Germans might have salted meat. Dinnertime consists of pork beef, or poultry. Trout is the most common freshwater fish in Germany, although pike and carp are sometimes served as a part of German cuisine. As a side dish, noodles are usually served. Dessert can consist of ice cream, doughnuts, or cheesecake that is made with quark cheese.
