A crepe is in the French cuisine category. Crepes are a thin version of pancakes. Crepes are generally filled or topped with many types of fruits such as apples, strawberries, or blueberries. The word crepe comes from Latin which means to shrink. The main ingredients in crepes include flour, eggs, milk, butter, and a bit of salt. There are two types of crepes. There are sweet crepes that are made from wheat flour and savory crepes that are made out of buckwheat flour. The crepe started Brittany which is a southern region in France. They are eaten widely in France. They were started in France because there was not enough wheat to bake bread. The crepe’s thin dough thickens and it needs to be flipped at least once so that it fries evenly on both sides.

Serving crepes

Crepes may be folded or rolled and filled with different fruits like strawberries or blueberries. Crepes can also be filled with vegetables and meats. Crepes can be eaten with any meal as long as they are filled with cheese or meat. Crepes can also be served as dessert as well. When crepes are served as a dessert they can be filled with sweet ingredients such as jam, melted chocolate, ice cream, bananas, sugar, lemon juice, and whipped cream.
